Why families across Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, and King George continue to trust Critter Sitter of VA with their pets and homes.

Awards are wonderful. But the trust behind those awards means even more.

At Critter Sitter of VA, we're proud to have earned multiple Best of Stafford awards and Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite honors. These recognitions are particularly meaningful because they reflect the confidence and support of the communities we've proudly served for more than a decade.

But our story isn't simply about winning awards.

It's about showing up. Every scheduled visit. Every pet. Every day.

It's about professional standards, experienced caregivers, continued training, and the responsibility that comes with being trusted inside someone's home.

And it's about a promise we've upheld since opening our doors in 2016: We have never missed a scheduled client visit.

A Decade of Earning Our Community's Trust

When Critter Sitter of VA was founded in 2016, our mission was straightforward: provide dependable, professional pet care that families could feel confident relying on.

More than 10 years later, that commitment remains at the center of everything we do.

Our company's foundation extends well beyond 2016. Our founder brings over 40 years of personal experience with pets, combining decades of hands-on knowledge with more than a decade of professional pet care leadership.

Today, we serve several hundred clients each year throughout Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, and King George, helping families navigate everything from demanding work schedules and vacations to senior pet care and specialized medical needs.

Over the years, we've cared for pets through countless holidays, changing family schedules, unexpected circumstances, and the everyday demands of busy households.

We've also grown from a passion for animals into an established, professionally operated business supported by trained employees, defined care standards, and a team-based approach to reliability.

Our longevity matters because professional pet care isn't something that can be measured by a single great visit. It's measured through consistent performance, year after year.

Multiple Best of Stafford and Nextdoor Awards: Recognition That Means Something

Being recognized through multiple Best of Stafford and Nextdoor Neighborhood Favorite awards is an honor we never take for granted.

These awards represent something deeply important to a locally owned business: community confidence.

Our clients trust us with their beloved pets, access to their homes, their daily routines, and often their most personal concerns about leaving their animals behind.

That kind of trust has to be earned.

We believe our continued recognition reflects the relationships we've built, the dependable care our team provides, and the confidence families have in choosing Critter Sitter of VA.

We're grateful to every neighbor, client, and community member who has supported us, recommended us, or voted for us throughout the years.

The awards are a wonderful recognition. The trust behind them is what matters most.

Our Proud Record: Never Missing a Scheduled Client Visit

One of the achievements we're most proud of isn't an award at all.

Since 2016, Critter Sitter of VA has never missed a scheduled client visit.

Not during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Not during the historic January 2022 I-95 shutdown, when a major winter storm stranded motorists and brought travel throughout our region to a standstill for days.

Not through the countless unexpected challenges that come with providing pet care every day of the year.

Employees get sick. Vehicles break down. Family emergencies happen. Weather creates challenges. Schedules change unexpectedly.

In pet care, those situations don't eliminate the responsibility to the animals waiting at home.

A dog still needs to go outside. A cat still needs fresh food, water, and attention. A senior pet may depend on medication at an appropriate time.

Our clients should never have to wonder whether someone will simply fail to show up.

That's why Critter Sitter of VA operates with a professional team rather than relying on a single caregiver.

Our team-based model supports continuity of care, flexible coverage, and operational oversight when unexpected circumstances arise.

The challenges haven't all been weather-related. In 2025, federal workforce reductions, layoffs, and government budget uncertainty created enormous disruption for households throughout our region for many months. Some families faced daily changes in their employment situations, often not knowing whether they would even be reporting to work the next day or had a job. Throughout that uncertainty, we continued adapting to our clients' changing schedules and pet care needs.

Reliability isn't simply something we advertise. It's a standard we've demonstrated for more than 10 years.

And it's one of the most important reasons clients continue to choose us.

Professional Credentials That Go Beyond Loving Animals

We love animals. Our entire team does.

But professional pet care requires far more than affection and good intentions.

Pets have unique personalities, behavioral signals, health considerations, and safety needs. Their caregivers must be prepared to recognize concerns, respond appropriately, and provide knowledgeable care.

Our professional qualifications and standards include:

  • Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) leadership, demonstrating commitment to recognized professional knowledge and standards.

  • Fear Free Certified expertise, emphasizing thoughtful approaches that help reduce fear, anxiety, and stress in pets.

  • Pet First Aid and CPR training, helping prepare our caregivers to recognize emergencies and respond appropriately.

  • Background-cleared W-2 employees, carefully selected and held accountable to company expectations for home and pet safety.

  • Licensed, bonded, and insured operations, providing another important layer of professionalism and protection.

  • Continuing professional education, because responsible pet care requires ongoing learning and development.

  • Over 40 years of personal pet experience behind our founder's understanding of animal care, in addition to more than a decade of professional business leadership.

These aren't simply credentials collected for a website.

They reflect our belief that the people entrusted with animals and private homes should be prepared, qualified, and accountable.

More Than One Set of Eyes Looking After Your Pets

One of the biggest differences between hiring an individual pet sitter and working with an established professional pet care company is the support behind each visit.

At Critter Sitter of VA, care isn't dependent on just one person.

Our sitters are supported by a team structure, shared professional expectations, and management oversight.

Visits are GPS-tracked, and clients receive detailed journals and photographs documenting their pets' care.

This communication provides more than an update. It gives families visibility into their pets' well-being while they're away.

Our approach also means that responsibility doesn't begin and end with the person walking through your front door.

There is a professional organization behind that caregiver, with the experience, resources, and accountability to support the care being provided.

For families with multiple animals, senior pets, medication requirements, or demanding travel schedules, that additional support can make a meaningful difference.

Trusted in Government, Military, and Executive Households

Our service area includes families whose professional responsibilities often require dependable schedules, discretion, and a high degree of trust.

Throughout Stafford, Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, and King George, we regularly serve government employees, military households, busy professionals, executives, healthcare workers, first responders and commuters.

For these households, choosing a pet care provider involves more than finding someone who is available.

It means selecting a professional company that respects privacy, takes home access seriously, communicates clearly, and understands the importance of dependable service.

Our background-cleared employee team, professional credentials, and established operating standards help provide that confidence.

When clients trust us with their homes and pets, we understand the responsibility that comes with it.

Ten Years Strong, and Still Raising the Standard

As we celebrate more than a decade of serving our community, we're incredibly proud of how far Critter Sitter of VA has come.

We've earned multiple community awards, built lasting client relationships, developed an experienced professional team, and established a record of reliability that means more to us than any trophy.

But we're not finished improving.

We continue investing in training, team development, client communication, and systems that support the dependable, individualized care our clients expect.

The goal isn't simply to grow bigger.

It's to keep getting better while protecting the standards and personal attention that built our reputation.

To everyone who has trusted us with a pet, recommended our services, supported our business, or voted for us over the years: thank you.

We're honored to be part of this community and grateful for the opportunity to continue earning your trust.
